Conifdence and showing how proud you are to be gay or lesbian is key. When you decide to come out you may be scared and you may be wondering what might happen. I’m not going to say it’s easy and i won’t say it’s hard. but when you do look at it from every point of view.

Going along with that if you are a parent of a LGBT child and they come out to you, that i them finally being who they are. They trust you enough to tell you that. So before you do anything drastic you need to be assertive, know that that’s the way they were born. Their is nothing that can change them. Think about that they are your child, who was once your little baby. Be confident and help them come out to everyone else they love. Show them that you are 100% behind their choice and make sure to tell them you still love them. that is how to deal with your child coming out as gay… the right way to do it.

if you ever feel angry hurt or need someone to talk to, know that their are people out there who will help. People that have been through exactly what you have. My mom being part of the LGBT comunity has help out so many people, so many kids. she has been through exactly what you or your friends may be going through, she wa kicked out of her house at 17. she knows what its like to feel the way you have. but she found people who accepted her for who she is. she’s still here today because of the decisions she made, that she is just the same as everyone else. i am here because of the choices my mom made. find someone who will be there for you, call the childerns help phone or the trevor project. there are people who care. so before you take your life or hurt yourself, think about the choices you make and how they affect the futre, you can be just like my mom, who got through that stage and now has an amazing life becuase she never let anyone tell her she wasn’t good enough.

my personal connection to homophobia

when it comes to homopobia it hits me close to home, having two moms myself i grew up having a hard time dealing with that. i had a very close friend in grade 7 who i knew was very religious but he did not know about my parents yet. over the summer i decided that he was a good enough friend to look past that and accept my family. but when i told him, he told me he was not able to be friends wiith me anymore. i cried for days thinking this was the way things would always be and if i wanted to keep those kind of friends i would have to keep my whole life a secret.

when i got to high school we still werent friends and i was still terrified to tell people. when i met all my knew friends i talked to my sister and asked her what she had been through. she said ” no matter what you don’t keep thatt a secret, its part of who you are and you should be proud.” so i decided no matter what they think i would tell them. and when i did they brushed it off like it wasn’t a big deal, even my religous friends. when it comes to homophobiayou can either be the problem or the solution. you can accept people for who they are or who their parents are, or you could put people down and tell them you don’t want to be friends. the thing is, these people, we are just like you. we just live a different lifestyle, if people are accepting of other religions why not different sexualities/ thats what i wonder about my friend from grade 7 everyday.
